Maria Dolores Torres is an artist with sensitivity to the human figure who shares her incessant exploration of color with expressive forms that transport us to a full organic world of joy and movement.
Born in Mexico City in 1958, she lived in Boston from 1989 to 1992. She took her first courses in basic drawing, figure drawing, photography and introduction to sculpture at Pine Manor College. She then returned to Cuernavaca City in Mexico and continued with watercolor and figure drawing at the Morelense Center for the Arts (CMA). From 1998 to 1999 she moved with her family to Madison, Wisconsin and studied watercolor portraiture. Once again in Cuernavaca she studied Japanese painting and art history. She received an Honorable Mention in the 5th and 6th State Contest for Watercolor in Cuernavaca, and has been an active member of the Society of Watercolorists in Morelos (SAMAC) since 2002. She has participated in several collective exhibitions, and has successfully exhibited her artwork at the Coolidge Corner Branch Library in Brookline, MA and at Perlera Real Estate Gallery in East Boston last spring 2007. |
